Took Dashin For Freedom to the Iowa NBHA All-District Show at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa... I ended up late entering the day before the event as with all the injuries, etc wasnt sure I was going to run AND They had just redone the whole ground.... went Friday and did warm ups and Cash was nervous and hot... he smoked a run though and we did some slow work and tried to keep him chill.

Ended up running Saturday and ended up 4th in the 2D and ran the 19th fastest time of the Whole Open!!!!! This was his 23rd show of his life!!! There were three world champions there competing on several horses, including; Mesa Leavitt, Maddie Montchal and Julie Erkamaa. I was very happy with him. He worked like a champ... still have some cleaning up to do on the 2nd and 3rd to make it smoother and faster but just cant believe he is clocking like this! Add $165 to his first year earnings!!

Here is a better angle of the run....

Sunday I went in there with NO pocket going to the first and totally over-ran it and then couldnt finish it and get over for second and ended up tipping. Nothing he did wrong... just trying to still get with him and I have to really make sure to keep him straight going to first and I just totally forgot.

The video is REALLY dark and cant hardly see anything... sorry...

August 7-9, 2009

Took Cash and Pippy to the Waterloo, Iowa Barrel Bash. I had another ugly weekend. Threw a new bit on Cash for some lift at the 2nd barrel... well my chin strap snapped running to the first barrel and ended up tipping that one!!! Then the bit flipped up and pinched the side of him... it was just ugly, and he Still clocked in the 2D!!!!  The Second day He ran in there and smoked 1st so nice and my stingray seat is SOO slick I about slid off the side of him.. by the time I got caught up and center with him he was turning the 2nd barrel.... we Barely pulled it over leaving it - Clocked in the 2D again... Not bad for his 21st show of his career.

Pippy ended up still being sore in that foot - guess I brought her back too soon.

A tornado came and I brought the horses in from the trailer outside and put them in a stall together inside so anything flying around outside wouldnt hurt them. Cash ended up laying down and Pippy was watching over him. It was super cute!!!

Took Cash, Jack and Pippy to the NBHA District 5 show in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. This was Pippys first run back in 2 months - she had issues turning the 1st barrel, thought she was still figuring out her foot wasnt hurting her ... clocked in the 3D both days.

I ended up tipping 2nd barrel on Cash both days but he clocked top of the 2D both runs! Was very happy with his effort.... 20th show of his career

I had some issues with the ground on Jack - he ran top of the 3D both days also... Sure wasnt my weekend! :)

July 29, 2009

Took Cash to Laddies and had a good run going... ended up slipping on first and about falling down.. took us awhile to get back on track and ended up 2nd in the 2D. He was Okay, just flustered after the stumble.

July 20, 2009

Rode Pippy for the first time in almost two months off from an abcess....

July 4th, 2009

Took Cash to the IRCA rodeo at Leon, IA. "The Biggest Rodeo in Iowa" With my green colt who has been to 16 races... there were SOO many people there... the stands on both sides were full and all the way around the big arena was packed with spectators standing, It was nuts. I was so nervous... OF COURSE I drew up in the Performance too! It was a muddy mess! I ran in there hard and had a very nice first barrel.. we got stuck leaving the second and the mud actually sucked my horses boot clean off his leg!!!! Had a nice third barrel and home... he ended up being about .8-.9 tenths off the winning time out of 130 girls.... I was very happy he still clocked with getting stuck in the mud!!! I finally found my boot after the slack also :) And he handled everything sooo well! I just love him! :)

July 3, 2009

Took Cash to the IRCA rodeo at Bloomfield and was in slack... ended up running at 1am and had a slight bobble on first... was really nervous AND tired and didnt ride hard to the first and he sat really soon and costed us some time.... he was only half of a second off out of over 85 girls so I was still tickled with him for only being his 16th competition run!!

July 1, 2009

Took Jack to laddies since he hadnt been ran in about a month and was resting Cash for the big weekend ahead... Jack REALLY fired hard... ran harder than he has in awhile... the ground at laddies is always like cement and should've known not to run Jack there his first time back but I did and he still was 2nd in the 2D With a really wide 2nd barrel. but I was happy with it and made some money... he tried hard and I got that thrill of running such a nice horse :)

June 27, 2009

Took Cash to the Riverside rodeo and it was a MUDDY mess... it was a disked up pasture and then it poured and hailed and poured some more.. it was HORRIBLE! He ran in there and did AWESOME! He won the performance and ended up 2nd overall! His 2nd rodeo, 15th competition and a nice $240 check!

June 20, 2009

Went to our first IRCA rodeo with Cash and we drew up in the slack... it rained so much the interstate flooded and our 2 hour drive turned into 4 hours and got there when the rodeo was starting... 2 of the 3 girls before me fell all the way down and their horses got up and ran wild! So Since we were late I didnt get to ride in the arena before hand so I just kind of cruised to the first barrel since the bucking chutes were right behind it.... he smoked it and ran a GREAT Pattern! he was only .4 tenths off the winner and 2 out of the money at his first rodeo and 14th competition!! I was soooooo proud of him!!

June 17, 2009

Went to laddies rodeo and Cash ran in the 1D and Pippy won the 2D with a crazy run. She got an abcess and was sore (we ran not knowing she was sore though and it showed! Poor girl!)

Cash running 1D

Pippy winning the 2D

June 13-14, 2009

Well our morning started off on the wrong foot. I ran in to go to the bathroom while Dustin was holding/watching the horses, long story short they were spooked and Loose RUNNING down our gravel road! All I heard was "whoa.... whoa"and then GALLOPING! By the time I got out the door I had no idea which way they went... Dustin and Camo were gone... Quila was out by the road looking down the road so I hopped in my car and went driving... couldnt find them ANYWHERE! 30 minutes later I see Dustin leading the 3 down the gravel road. They had RAN down the road for 3 miles and then ran through Several very large fields with mud up past their knees... RACING each other. Mind you one is a Son of Dash For Perks, ones a Daughter of Dashing Cleat and my old man ran on the Race Track if you can imagine how well that went!! Grrr... soo Jack pulled a shoe and I was just sure they were going to be very very sore.... they looked sound so we decided to load up and go to the barrel race 2 hours away....

Results from the weekend are all here under Bloomfield  http://ianbha.com/district5results.html

And its a GOOD thing we did! :) Pippy slipped on her first and still was 4th in the 1D!!!!

Cash also ran 6th in the 1D ... we had a bad approach to the first and went to the fence and still had the 6th fastest time!

Black Jack Ante ran 5th in the 2D

Black Jack Ante also was 5th in the 3D the first day with a lolly gag run :)

I tipped on Cash the first day, but had a 2D time...

June 3, 2009

Took Cash to the Jackpot rodeo just to get some experience... see how he handled the rodeo atmosphere along with the bad ground and he did just GREAT! He ended up winning 2nd in the 1D!!! We came in on the wrong lead and had a funky 1st... and our saddle about fell off around 3rd so we kind of loped home and still won a nice check! I was tickled with him! :)

Heres his run

Heres our exhibition :)

May 29 - 31, 2009

Friday was the Waterloo, IA Barrel Bash  I decided at the last minute to enter Pippy and Cash. I just threw a new bit on cash and wanted to see how he worked in it because he hadnt seen the pattern in 2 weeks and it was only his 10th trip from home - we ended up tipping 3rd but he tried hard and handled the new atmosphere well. Pippy ran in there and laid down a SMOKING 1D run of a 14.4 out of 250 entries was the 21st fastest time! HOWEVER, I Kicked over the 2nd barrel with my foot leaving it - I was sooo ticked but she tried very hard so I wasnt too upset. :)

Saturday I ran Pippy first and had a 14.9 - I ran in there with a little less confidence for some reason.... She was one out of the 3D money with 275+ entries so it wasnt terrible it was just about a second slower than shes capable of running... But its only about our 18th run together in 2 years so Im still learning her buttons. :)

Cash was up next... this was the Future Fortunes round - $10,000 added money... I was really nervous but he warmed up very well. He ran in there and smoked first... I asked him for room going to the 2nd and he ended up giving me like an 8 foot pocket - he is SOO light I figured out... well we finally got around the 2nd and smoked third and ran home and turned in a 15.0 - Only a second off the winning time out of 275 people his 10th show out! I was soo happy with him with that detour and still clocked that!

Jack ran in there and laid down a nice run - had some problems getting up with him and hung on the backside a little but he still had a 15.1 at 18 years of age :)

Odee has been off for 8 months and hadnt seen the barrels til this weekend so I brought him through.. He had GREAT barrels but we didnt have much speed between but I was happy we had a clean run after that long of a break :)

Sunday... we had a blow out 5 miles from Waterloo... got there WAY late and about 7 people before I had to go run Pippy... man was that a nightmare! Didnt get much warm up time and boy was she grumpy and I was NERVOUS!! We went in and had very rough ugly barrels and still had a CLEAN 15.0 - Just out of the money again.

Cash had a SMOKING 1st and 2nd and I quit riding into third and we were about to tip so I lifted him off and boy did he get RIGHT OFF! He ended up knocking my hat off my head with his head, haha. But we had a clean run and still only a second off at 15.3

Jack Ran in again and had another nice smooth run of 15.1
