Cash is 9 years old and is an own son of the #1 Barrel Horse Sire in the country, Dash for Perks x Fast Freedom (SI 76 and 1D Barrel Mare) x Freedom Flyer. Cash has proven himself to be a tough 1D barrel and rodeo horse in just a very short period of time. He has already won over $2500 in his first 30 shows. He stands just over 15.2 hands tall. His dam ran on the track for a short time with a SI of 76 (A) and then was turned into a 1D Barrel horse. She is also an own daughter of Freedom Flyer (SI 100) who is a Son of Easy Jet (LTE of $445,000, SI 100) He has the biggest heart and LOVES his job! He is a natural athlete with natural rate at the barrels but very free running between. He is the legendary Dash For Cash and Rocket Wrangler breeding, he is also double bred Easy Jet, double bred Jet Deck and goes back to Three Bars four times. This is my once in a lifetime horse.

Dash For Perks was the #1 Barrel Sire in the Nation at one point and is currently the:

> Decades #3 Living Sire of Money Earners in Excess of $1,001,404
> Decades #2 Sire of $50,000+ Barrel Earners
> Sire of All Purpose Earnings in Excess of $3 Million
> The only leading barrel sire with a son also on the leading sires list

2009 Fee: $3,500 - Cooled Shipped Semen Available
    Standing at Oklahoma Stud
We also believe Dash For Perks carries the Large Heart Gene (The X-Factor) who he can pass on to his daughters.

Fast Freedom is an own daughter of Freedom Flyer (SI 100 Own son of Easy Jet) and she ran on the track for a short while. She had a SI of 76 (A) and was later turned into a barrel horse. That was definitely her calling - she turned out to be a 1D Barrel Mare and Rodeo horse in Missouri - Owned and Trained by Dana Wood, where she currently resides. We are also pretty positive that Fast Freedom definitely carries the Large Heart Gene (The X-Factor) - may even be a double copy.

Freedom Flyer is by the legendary Easy Jet. Freedom Flyer himself had a SI of 100 and we believe he too carries the Large Heart Gene (The X-Factor) who he passed on indefinitely to Fast Freedom.

2010

2010 Accomplishments (5 races so far):

August 13 - 15

Iowa NBHA State Finals -
Cash ran in there and SMOKED a 14.583 - winning 4th in the 1D out of 300 Entries; behind Mesa Leavitt, Jordon Talbot and Darcie Hoffman! We are ecstatic! He added another $327 to his total earnings and a super nice bronc halter!

Iowa NBHA State - 2nd Go - Cash ran in and beat our personal fastest time with a 14.948 and won 6th in the 2D. Bringing home $160 and a bucket full of prizes.

July 10 - 11

Took Cash to the Big J Barrel Blast in Waterloo, Iowa and had a very good weekend. Saturday we had a great run going and my rein flipped over his head at the 2nd barrel and we ran the rest of the pattern with both reins on one side! He did great! We were sitting 3rd in the 2D until the last 5 riders when Mesa Leavitt bumped up the fast time and then we were knocked down to just out of the 2D Money -- but I was very happy with his run! :)

Sunday he had ground trouble leaving third and still clocked 2 tenths faster. He ended up running the 16th fastest of the day and was just out of the 2D money again!

June 25 - 27

Cash cut his shoulder open and had to have stitches - he hadnt been rode but FOUR Times since BBR finals end of April before the Kirkwood barrel bash. He was fat and out of shape and I ended up taking him to the vet after the race to find out he was sore in his hocks also! But he ran super well and tried really hard.

Friday he ran a 15.008 (a personal best for us) but I barely pulled down the 3rd barrel. It would have been TOP of the 2D - a 14.4 won it. We clocked the 35th fastest of the barrel bash - pretty happy with that being fat and out of shape! :)

Saturday was the Future Fortunes side pot. All I cared about was being clean! We ended up running a 15.110 and was mid 2D. Still was in the top 50 out of 300+ barrel racers and it was a TOUGH barrel bash. We ended up 2nd in the 2D for Future Fortunes and made $467.50.

3 day video -

April 2 - 4

Dashin For Freedom lights it up for his first runs of the season! He hadn't seen the pattern since September 2009 and he ran the 19th fastest at Kirkwood Sunday out of 142+ entries!

He also won $213 Friday night with a nice run!

2009 Accomplishments (hauled 4 months total - 23 Shows):

Cash being Cash...

Some 2009 Season Videos :)

September

August

Took Cash to the Iowa NBHA All District Barrel Race at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for his 23rd barrel race. He ended up running the 19th fastest of the Whole open (170+ Entries) Against 4 WORLD CHAMPIONS; Mesa Leavitt, Maddie Montchal, Julie Erkamaa and Julie Meyer. He won the 4th in the 2D Check and made $165. I was tickled pink with him and still have lots of room to improve!!

July

Oh the madness of 4th of July Rodeos!!! Started out at Bloomfield, Iowa IRCA Rodeo - Ran .5 tenths off out of over 85 girls with a bad first barrel and running slack at 1AM!

Then went on to the Leon, Iowa IRCA Rodeo. "The Biggest Rodeo In Iowa" With over 120 girls! And Of Course we were in the Performance! He handled it GREAT!

June

We entered the Trekfest Rodeo in Riverside, Iowa and ended up Winning the Rodeo Performance and ended up 2nd overall! It was a nice $234 check for his 15th competition run :)

Hauled to Adel, Iowa the IRCA Rodeo. It was our first rodeo and the interstate flooded and we got there VERY late and didnt get to ride in the pen before hand - the bucking chutes are right behind the first barrel so I was worried he'd spook so I just cruised to the first. He ended up running .5 tenths off all the pro girls!! He was JUST out of the money!! 14th Run ever!

Went to the District 5 NBHA Show in Bloomfield for his 12th show and he won 5th in the 1D!!!!

May

Went to the NBHA District 3 & 5 Show at Dahlens in Iowa City, Iowa for his 8th show. He loped top of the 3D with 105+ Entries.

Took him to his 4th show of his life just for exposure. It was the NBHA District 2, 3 and 5 combined show - there were 175+ Entries and he loped through and clocked in the 2D!!!!

April

Took Cash to the small clinic at Lazy L that Teresa Baumgardener and Tracy Milota put on - it was a fundraiser for our club so figured hey why not! Cash did great. Was his first time seeing the barrels since that previous November when he was loping the pattern.

2008

A Couple Remix Videos Up Thru this point :)

Took him to the Ed Wright Clinic at the end of July - Ed loved Cash - thought he had a ton of potential and really liked the way I rode. We found out he was sore in his stifles and thats why I was having problems getting him to finish 2nd and 3rd without being so hoppy around the barrels.

Started working him trying to get him ready for the Ed Wright clinic

2007

I had just graduated high school and didnt get to haul as much. I qualified for the NBHA Youth World Finals in Jackson, Mississippi so I had to save my money for that. :) Spent the year getting him broke and riding around real nicely.

The first barrel work on the video is of me trying him out in 2006

2006

Leah had Cash advertised on Dream Horse and I found him in June 2006 and called about going to see him. When we got there Leah told us he hadn't been rode since July 2005 - that wasn't what we were expecting but we had already drove 6 hours south to go see him. I fell in love with him. He was a jerk though - wouldn't pick up his feet for me to pick them out, tried bucking me off the whole time, wouldn't take his right lead and was just grumpy.

Spent the weekend at their barn just getting to know him and bond a little bit :)

We stayed there for 3 days and went and watched the PRCA rodeo and stayed in a nice little hotel in California, Missouri. The last day to the local rodeo grounds in Versailles to see how he was on the pattern. Well.... the bucking continued and he couldnt hardly lope circles, let alone the pattern. He was really front endy - even at a trot, Id get to the barrel and he'd come to a stop and sling his butt. Boy was he going to be a lot of work!!

And we brought him home :)

2005

He was gelded his four year old year because Dana got pregnant and her father didn't want the danger of having a stallion around. He was turned out to pasture and Dana eventually sold him to her sister Leah.

2004

Dana sent Cash to a neighbor gal, Charlotte to break at age three and start getting the basics down with him. Here is a video of him at age 3. He was hauled to 3 shows.

2001

"Mr. Cash or Little Man as he was sometimes called as been a trouble maker since the day he was born.  Freedom was over due 2 weeks and I of course was getting ancy.  I checked her every four hours, I wanted to be there for the moment but of course he came in the between time.  He was born around 9:00 I am guessing.  I checked her at 8:00 and went back at midnight and there he was, up, dry, and trying to nurse.  So I guessed him to be 2 to 3 hours old.  anyway all seems good, but he couldn't figure out how to nurse.  He kept sticking his nose to far up into her past her udder.  I worked with him all night, I could get his mouth on a teat and he would start to nurse and then move.  Finally at 6:00 I called Dr. Houstma, he had been the vet who had been with me since day one.  I was getting real worried by now because he was getting close to that critical 12 hour window.  Freedom had got to the point where she was kicking at him cause her bag hurt her.  Dr. Houstma made it and we drew blood because we wanted to see if he had any antibodies and then we tubed him.  Well you would think almost 12 hours old and nothing in his belly he would be getting weak.  It took both Dr, Houstma and me to throw him to the ground.  He was fisty(sp).  So we got the tube in his belly ran it up over his head, between his ears and down over his neck, duck taped it in place.  We made a pump and I hand pumped Freedom every 3 hours, one cup, for 24 hours.  I was exhausted.  Dr. Houstma came back and we did another tube of blood to see if he got his antibodies, all was good.  He was a little cold so we took a big sweatshirt, cut it off at the elbows and put a slit at the neck and put it on him.  Much cheaper than a foal blanket.  He looked so cute.  he was real black with a mouse grey belly.  I know we took pics of him, but I haven't ever seen them.  He just kind of always has been a pest.  Dr. Houstma said he looked like black giraffe he had such long legs. He was a very independent guy.  Most babies stay pretty close to their for the first few weeks, not Cash he would be at the far end of the lot doing his own thing which is how I think he got himself into trouble in June - with the lion. He was always independent and goofy." - Dana Wood

In June, at two months of age Cash and Freedom were attacked by a mountain lion at their farm. They found them all torn up and with Cash's neck hanging off of him. They had the vet out right away and started taking care of him!

"When I went to teach him to stand tied, he passed himself out.  We put his halter on him and took him to the front yard and tied him to the tree.  Of course he went to pulling and jumping and he finally just planted his feet and pulled back and stayed and stayed.  Then his eyes rolled back into his head and he fell over.  I jerked the knot loose and he is laying there on the ground and I am thinking I killed him.  Then his eyes popped open and he jumped up and snorted and was pretty mad.  It was so funny.  But did it ever scare me. He was only a couple of months old.  I can't remember if it happened before or after the cat attack.  I just kept tying him up and he finally quit being stubborn and pulling and got used to things.  I rode Freedom that summer at shows.  I preferred to take someone with me to hold Cash while I rode her.  Once thought I went by myself to Richmond and I had another mare I  bought to ride while Freedom was pregnant, I had her and Freedom and Cash.  I tied Freedom and Cash on one side of the trailer and Lana on the other.  Somehow he managed to get loose and was following me and when I came around to where Lana was, he apparently thought it was his mommy (Freedom and her looked a lot alike, I couldn't tell them apart in the pasture) and he went to nurse.  Lana was not impressed and I nearly got kicked.  He is such a trouble maker.  After that I took someone with me to keep a hold of him, but he did good being tied up and seeing other horses and lights and stuff." - Dana Wood

Cash was the result of shipped semen of Dash For Perks by the Lady Bug Stallion Station in 2000. Fast Freedom, AKA Freedom was a 1D Barrel Mare in Missouri - she also ran tough at rodeos and was a proven winner over and over. Dana Wood of Missouri bred Freedom to Perks and little old Cash was born on April 16th, 2001.
